On friday 2nd August,2013, Urhobo National Youth Congress (UNYC) organise a Post humous Merit Gold award for Late Senator Pius Akpor Ewherido as the most outstanding and vibrant Senator of the year 2012. They said he has been nominated for the award before his death. The award was received by a member of his family. The event wa held in Ughelli, Delta state.
